Sensei Robert Dumitrescu had his first experience with Traditional Karate Do early
in 1983, and started in earnest in 1985 under Sensei Adrian Cozma, from whom he
obtained Shodan in 1991.
A year later he is recognised as a Sports Instructor by the Romanian Martial Arts
Federation Goju Ryu style under Sensei Cozma. From then on he produced
excellent results in National and local competitions until he switches alliances and
goes to train in Goju Kai under Sensei Suciu Gabriel, actual Vice President of the
Romanian Modern Karate Federation, and IGKA representative for Romania.
In 1999 he receives his Nidan grade from Gabriel Sensei and Sensei Cozma and
soon forms the Romanian National School of Trainers. In 2001 he tested and
passes his rank examination and he is awarded de rank of Sandan from Gabriel
Sensei.
Since 2002, Sensei Dumitrescu has been recognised by the Ministry of Sports and
the Romanian Modern Karate Federation Goju Kai style. In the same year he founds
and presides over the "Karate Do Goju Ryu Club for kids and youngsters"
Between 2001 and 2003 he was a student of the Sports University, sports
Management class.
Sensei Dumitrescu is a welcome addition to our International Team, and will do
well in the years to come. We are sure his eagerness and desire to spread the
wings of Goju Ryu will take him to many places, and he will be an intrinsic part of the
development of Kenyukan in Europe.
